Mains water in Gabicce Mare

In Gabicce Mare, at the utility’s sampling point, mains water has a hardness of about 32 French degrees: it is moderately hard water. The utility does not publish the dry residue.

At these values limescale is visible, but a water softener is not always needed: it depends on how you use the water and what you want to protect.

There is no legal limit for hardness in Italy: Legislative Decree 18/2023 sets none, while the previous Decree 31/2001 recommended 15 to 50 French degrees. For a domestic softener it is advisable not to go below 15.
