WAHU solutions: which dispenser for which place

There is no machine that is right in the abstract: there is the one that is right for where it goes, for how many people will use it and for the water you want. Below are the product families we install, with the characteristics that actually matter when choosing. The price is set in the quote, after the survey: it depends on the model, the number of points and how the plumbing is built.

The four questions we always ask: where it goes (under the sink, on the worktop, on the counter, on the floor), how much water is needed at the busiest hour, which water (ambient, chilled, sparkling) and which treatment your mains water needs.

The three treatments, in two lines

TreatmentWhat it doesWhen we choose it
Microfiltration, 0.5 micronHolds back suspended particles and, with activated carbon, removes the taste of chlorine. Silver salts prevent bacteria from proliferating inside the filter.It is the most common solution where mains water is already good and the problem is the taste.
Hollow-fibre ultrafiltration, 0.15 micronAdds a membrane that also holds back the bacterial load — according to the technical data sheet of the manufacturer of the filtration system, available on request, 99.99%.Where one more guarantee on hygiene is wanted, or where water may occasionally contain bacteria.
Reverse osmosisAlso reduces dissolved salts: it changes the taste and the hardness of the water, not only how clean it is.Where mains water is very hard or very rich in salts, and light water is wanted.

The LUX line

LUX is not a model: it is the most refined finish, available for the home, the office and hospitality. What sets it apart, according to the data sheets in our catalogue:

  • electronic controls with a touch display — 4.3″ on home and office models, 10.4″ on the tower for venues — and one-touch dispensing, with no need to hold the button;
  • tempered-glass front with backlighting (8 mm on the office column);
  • quiet, with outer materials resistant to limescale, knocks, smears and detergents;
  • on the office column, a display customisable with your logo;
  • as an option, continuous sterilization of the nozzle and dispensing area.

What is needed to install it

It depends on the model. During the survey we check that everything is there, and where something is missing we say so beforehand, not afterwards:

  • For all: mains water between 3 and 30 °C and between 1 and 7 bar.
  • Columns, countertop and under-counter units for offices and venues (requirements of our supply contract): a dedicated Schuko power socket no more than 1.5 metres away, plus a second one for electronic towers; a mains water connection of the washing-machine type (3/4″ male) with a tap, no more than 1.5 metres away; for columns and towers, a 35 mm hole in the worktop.
  • Home: room in the cabinet under the sink, or on the worktop, and a connection to the kitchen water supply. Power is needed by models that chill or carbonate the water. If the pipes have to pass from the worktop into the unit below, the hole is the buyer’s responsibility and must be made before delivery.

How to read the flow rates. The litres per hour in the tables are the cooling capacity declared by the manufacturer (water chilled by 10 °C, continuously): it matters at peak times. “Fills two litres in about 13 seconds” is the filling speed of a bottle: it matters at the counter. They are two different measures.

Connection with a bypass valve and a non-return device, user manual and declaration of conformity handed over at installation, as Italian Ministerial Decree 25/2012 on the treatment of drinking water requires.

Which one is right for you

It depends on where it goes, on how much water is needed at the peak and on what your mains water is like. The survey is free and that is exactly what it is for: to look at the space, measure the water and tell you which solution will cope.
